After winning the 2014 NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors failed to repeat as champions last year, blowing a 3-1 lead. Now, with hopes of reaching they’re third consecutive Finals, they face adversity even from the fans.
Widely known as the “villains” across the league, why should you support their efforts to win another championship?
Everyone Loves a Good Comeback
The Golden State Warriors made for what was arguably the biggest “meme” of the summer last year, after blowing their 3-1 lead in the Finals.
Although they took a much considered cheap route and signed Durant, it’s only insurance for a similar circumstance.
After making nothing short of a fool of themselves, and wasting the greatest regular season in history, they have a chance to seal up the wound. Should they find themselves back in the Finals, and earn another championship.
The Spurs are a Dynasty
and they’ve had their fair share of winning.
History has proven that all good things end with time, and the Warriors could end this Spurs era right here, in the Conference Finals.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not predicting five championships for Golden State in the coming years. I’m only implying with a series win, they may hold off San Antonio’s title hopes, for years to come.
Defending the GOAT
As we all know, LeBron James is making his run at Michael Jordan’s top-dog spot in league history.
After coming back from a 3-1 lead, some say he’s now closer than ever. With a win against this absolutely stacked Warriors team, James may cause confusion than ever.
If you’re a Michael Jordan fan, and firm believer that he is the best to ever play, you should have your fingers crossed the Warriors can slow down “The King’s” mount at his legacy. Even if it’s only for now.
The Golden State Warriors have a compelling story, and are the beginning of a new chapter in NBA history.
Should they succeed in securing another title, it will affect team’s and legacies all over the league.
